4 Ways to Keep Your Social Media Updates Fresh

When it comes to social media, one of the most common struggles for small businesses is keeping their updates fresh.

This is a struggle because not everyone can, or wants to, or even knows how to come up with new content every day.

If this is you or if you’re simply looking for new content ideas, here are a few suggestions according to Salman Aslam of Social Media Today with our own little twist to them:

1. Don’t Overly Self-Promote

This is important because no one likes seeing a brand promote itself too much. This especially goes for small businesses that have one or few products or services. Word fresh written in water drops

Coming up with content that is not only relevant, but also useful to your customers and/or target audience can be a hassle. I suggest sharing articles from other experts and established names in your industry. Yes, these people are your competitors, but creativity and inspiration aren’t on a time schedule.

2. Look up the Day or Week

What day is it today? Check online calendars for a special day or occasion being celebrated or remembered today. Days like Bacon Appreciation Day or Coffee Appreciation Day are only two internationally-recognized occasions throughout the Internet and are celebrated as such, even though they aren’t nationally-recognized holidays in the United States.

3. Ask Your Followers

You may not have a large follower base, but asking your followers to share your content or even suggest your page to their friends is not a bad idea. Asking questions is also great, and can stir up a discussion or conversation which can lead to more awareness on the subject or other users seeing their friends commenting on something that may be interesting to them as well; this can in turn result in more followers or a new customer.

4. Promote Your Followers

Sharing status updates of your followers is a great way to promote other people that take part in a specific industry or activity (such as DIY, sports, etc.). Featuring a fan every week is another fun tactic to get your following base motivated to participate and share your content. Asking for submissions of consumers taking part in the activity specific to your particular industry is also an effective means of getting your audience engaged on your page and keeping them coming back for more.

That’s just a short list of things you can do to get your audience engaged and participating on your page or wall.

Keep sharing and keep creating!
